HISTORY OF DELHI
Delhi, the capital of India has a solid recorded foundation. It was controlled by probably the most remarkable rulers in Indian history.The historical
backdrop of the city is as old as the epic Mahabharata. The town was known as Indraprastha, where Pandavas used to live. At the appointed time eight additional urban communities woke up contiguous Indraprastha: Lal Kot, Siri, Dinpanah, Quila Rai Pithora, Ferozabad, Jahanpanah, Tughlakabad and Shahjahanabad.
Delhi has been an observer to the political strife for more than five centuries. It was administered by the Mughals in progression to Khiljis and Tughlaqs.
WHO FOUND DELHI?
Anangpal Tomar is often described as the founder of Delhi, built the citadel some 10 kilometres from Suraj Kund.
During Company Rule in India, the Mughal Emperor Bahadur Shah II was reduced to merely a figurehead. The Indian Rebellion of 1857 sought to end company rule and declared Bahadur Shah II the Emperor of India. However, the British soon recaptured Delhi and their other territories, ending the short-lived rebellion. This also marked the beginning of direct British Rule in India. In 1911, the capital of British India was shifted from Calcutta to New Delhi, the last inner city of Delhi designed by Edwin Lutyens.
After India’s Independence from the British, New Delhi became the capital of the newly formed Republic of India.
HOW DELHI GOT ITS NAME?
Shahjahanabad, the walled city built by Shah Jahan from 1638 to 1649, containing the Lal Qila and the Chandni Chowk, nowadays known as Old Delhi.
One legend expresses that Delhi is named after a lord of Mauryan tradition, Dhillu or Dilu who fabricated a city here in 50 BC and named the city after himself. … As per a few history specialists, delli is the source of the name. Delhi is the adulterated type of dehleez of dehali, which means door or edge.

Delhi is famous for various reasons. Some of the reasons includes its tourist attractions, food, nightlife,transportation system,events and marketplace.
